Regis’ Innovation Center supports students at hackathon and beyond

Three Regis students brought an AI idea shaped by their own experiences to San Francisco—and showed what support can make possible.

On May 17 and 18, Adin McPherson, Okraku Ofei-Agyekum and Nathaniel Wankio joined hundreds of builders from around the world for the Y Combinator × AgentPhone Call My Agent Hackathon. Backed by Regis’ Innovation Center, the team placed third in the Browser Use Case Category.

Building from experience

The eight-hour challenge was to design and pitch an AI product powered by a phone-call agent. The team created a concept to connect prospective international students with resources for applying to colleges in the United States—an idea informed by the hurdles they had encountered themselves.

A place at the table

The Innovation Center sponsored the students’ trip, giving them the chance to build and compete alongside participants from far beyond campus. Their result was a reminder that a strong idea, practical support and a willingness to learn can put students on the same stage as experienced innovators.

Support beyond one weekend

That kind of support continues at Regis through opportunities, mentorship and programming that help turn early ideas into real ventures. The Innovation Center connects students to the people and resources they need to explore what is possible next.
