Milestone2017 Emmy Awards gifting suite

For Paul Hunter, a bow tie was more than an accessory. It became the starting point for a venture built around creativity, resilience and a more sustainable approach to fashion.

Starting with what was at hand

Hunter began making bow ties from surplus clothing and reclaimed fabric. What started as a personal project drew attention, revealing an opportunity to create distinctive accessories while giving existing materials another life.

From Regis to the Emmys

While a student at Regis, Hunter grew Repurpose Bowties amid significant personal challenges. In 2017, the venture reached the Emmy Awards gifting suite, placing the brand and its mission in front of a new audience.

Fashion with a purpose

Repurpose Bowties brought together style and a commitment to reducing textile waste. Its story shows how a small, practical idea can carry both a product and a purpose—and how a student venture can move far beyond campus.
